Happy New Year!

I know I am WAY behind on updating this blog and we have had a lot going on and I will admit it...I have just been too lazy to update this thing!

The past few weeks have been filled with all things Christmas. We went and got our tree, saw Santa, got the house decorated, had Christmas parties and spent a lot of time with family. Now we have taken all of the Christmas stuff down and packed it away for next year and we are excitied about ringing in 2010.

The Quinn's hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and we also hope that you have a very Happy New Year!

Time for an update.

Boy has it been a while since my last update...sorry!

It's funny how sometimes life gets so busy and things that you want to get done never do or even something as simple as updating a blog go untouched. We have been busy getting ready for Jayci's two birthday parties and I think we are ready except for a few small details which I will probably get done today or tomorrow. I can't believe that this year has flown by so fast and that my little girl will be a year old next week. I try to keep this blog separate from Jayci's but that is so hard sometimes as she is so much a part of everything we do but check out www.jaycimarie.com to see what she has been up to lately.

As for what is going on with the rest of us:

Molly - She is well into her Junior year of high school and is currently getting ready to take her SAT's. She is driving more and more on her own and is hoping to have her own car by Christmas and she is doing very well in school as she got all A's and B's on her last report card...we are so proud of her! Molly is also very excited about this weekend which is the homecomming football game and dance!

Scott - Busy as always with projects around our house and has been helping family and friends lately with moves and fix-up projects.

Mandy - Trying to keep the laundry from piling up around our ears and studying for my latest certification test.

This fall weather has been so nice and we hope that this weekend the weather will cooperate and we can go to a pumpkin patch and then in a couple of weeks it is the syrup soppin and that of course is one of our favorite fall activities. Scott is so happy that football season is here and it is different as this year we didn't get our season tickets but we have managed to watch all of the games on TV and of course we are so happy that Auburn has won all of their games so far.

We hope that all is well with everyone!

New Layout and Update

I'm not sure if I like the new layout or not but I thought it was time for a change.

I know I haven't posted in a while and that is because we have been extremely busy between everyone getting sick and then my birthday. There has been a stomach bug going around the last couple of weeks and all of us have gotten it in some degree or another...not fun stuff!!

My birthday was last weekend and I had a wonderful one. Mom, Dad, Cheryl and Molly were all able to come and spend the weekend with us and this made it even more special. Of course this was my first birthday with Jayci and hearing her say "ma-ma" was the best present ever! Scott, Cheryl and Molly took me to Provinos (the best Italian place) and then we went to the movies to see GI-Joe and it was an awesome movie.

This weekend we have nothing really planned so hopefully we can relax....we will see.

It was funny to watch Makayla try to figure out if she was supposed to eat the cake or not and she had a lot fun playing on the playground and opening her gifts.

Happy Father's Day...a Little Late!

I meant to post this a few days ago but we don't have Internet access at the house and we have been so busy so here we go....

I want to wish all the daddies out there a Happy Father's Day! I am so lucky to have a Dad that has always been there for my sister and I and has shown us all the love in the world and has worked so hard for all of us. On Sunday Molly, Jayci and I spent the day with Scott and it was so much fun to see him with his two little girls. Molly gave Scott an iTunes gift card, Jayci gave him a new pair of swim shorts, I gave him a tape measure and the girls together gave him a picture book of nothing but pictures of Scott with Molly and Jayci. Scott is an amazing father and to watch him with all of the girls as he plays games with them, gives them advice and helps teach them things shows me each day what the meaning of a great dad is. We had a very good weekend and they always go by too fast but we will be getting Molly this Sunday and have her for a whole week as we get ready for the 4th of July!

Photography Class

I haven't posted in a while and we have had so much going on (bathroom demolition from water damage) that I will try to post about later but I just wanted to post a couple of pics that I took this morning. I recently enrolled in a digital photography class at Auburn University and last night was my first class...man was it overwhelming!!! With having Jayci and taking so many pictures of her I wanted to become more knowledgeable of what my camera can do and take better pictures. Well after last night which was basically just going over all the settings on the cameras I got up this morning and took a few practice pictures. One of the effects I want to learn how to do is have my subject in focus and the background to be blurred out and by accident I ended up with these pictures.

Vacation Week.

Well this year we are doing our summer vacation a little differently then we usually do. Normally we have planned a week away (usually a cruise) a year in advance and we are gone about the weekend after Molly gets out of school but this year with Jayci still being so little we decided not to travel. Instead we came to Mom and Dad's for the week. Unfortunately the weather has not been great but it has been nice to not be at home and we are planning on going to Stone Mountain, the aquarium, the movies and maybe even put-put...we are just winging it. We are also very excited as we get Molly for three weeks this summer and so we will get her for a week in July and again in August.

Molly also wants to let everyone that she is now a Junior! I can't believe that she only has two more years and then she will be in college.

Prayers for Kayleigh's family.

There is a blog that I have been following for a couple of weeks now and that is the one of little 10 month old Kayleigh Anne Freeman. Kayleigh was born prematurly and spent the entire 10 months of her life in the hospital. Last night Kayleigh lost her battle and has gone on to join the other angels in heaven. Situations like this have always touched my heart but now having a baby that is very close to Kayleigh's age as made these feelings run even deeper. I always give Jayci big hugs and kisses when I pick her up from daycare and when I go to bed at night but I hold her even tighter now and I am so grateful for a healthy baby. Please keep Kayleigh's family in your prayers and you can click on the link below to go to her blog and leave a comment for her family. Love to everyone.

Our new guest room.

First off let me just say this...I am so proud of Scott for all of the hard work he put into this and the bed turned out beautifully. I am lucky to have such a wonderful husband that is so talented!

Since Jayci's arrival we have had mom, dad and Cheryl come more often and we have been talking about needing an extra bedroom to make into a guest room so we didn't have to put people on the floor or couches so we decided to take down our home gym (not that we used it anyway) and make our guest room. With Scott and I it seems like we take what we think will be a small project and it quickly grows! A little over a year ago we decided to tile our bathroom floor and the next thing you know we have taken everything out of the bathroom (except the cabinets and shower) and tiled the floor, put in a new tub, counter tops, mirrors, light fixtures, curtains and painted the walls as well! Our new guest room was no exception to our remodeling adventures as Scott decided to build the bed frame so I took that opportunity to paint the walls, paint the existing furniture, put up a new ceiling fan, new curtains and a new comforter. The color I had picked out for the walls didn't come out as I had planned (it ended up a lot more blue) but by the time we got it all put back together it came out very nicely. We hope that now that we have this room our overnight guests will be more comfortable and we also hope that this 4th of July (or any other time) our family and friends will now be able to stay with us if they want to. Below is some of the pics of our work in progress and the finished result.

Wild weather weekend!

This weekend had everything you could imagine for weather! On Friday when we went to get Molly it poured down rain and the rain continued throughout the night. We woke up Saturday morning to the sound of the tornado sirens going off. We turned on our local weather and heard that tornadoes we spotted in Auburn and damage had been reported in many places in our county. By about lunchtime on Saturday the rain had ended, the sun came out, and it was 70 degrees so me, Molly and Jayci went out and did a little shopping. By later in the evening it started to cool down and when we woke up Sunday morning there was snow! It snowed so hard for several hours and we got about 4-5 inches and had so much fun building our snowman and having snowball fights. We don't get snow often and especially this kind of accumulation so we took advantage of it and played as much as we could. We thought with the way it was snowing that we wouldn't have to go to work on Monday and that Molly wouldn't have to go to school but it did warm up by Sunday afternoon and started to melt everything away so by Monday morning most of it was gone. The snow was beautiful while it lasted and below are some of the pictures we took.
